At the social tendered to Mr and Mrs-Phillip on Friday night a goodly number oi residents assembled. A set of cutlery and'a dinner service were pfresehted during itihe evening and a speech, made by tylr Guy, chairman of the .School Committee, who spoke in laudatory terms oi Mr Phillip’s work among tile children; ,mi also oi the help rendered by Mis Phillip.l' when the schoi was under stalled through sickness. Mr Phillip responded, saying that ill-health had compelled him to resign his position rattier than do the children ail injustice by continuing work which he felt unable to cope with. “One must take risks in this world, ’’ he continued, “it progress is to be made, anti while realising that by making such a change In his wojrk lie was taking a big risk, lie was *quiite .hopeful of the ' issue.*’ Mrs Phillip then addressed a tew 'Words' no the children.
