Aiso present-iMesß'rs Matheson, Mackay, Kilsby, Barber, Ross, Brown, and Gunning. Leave of absence was ■granted to Mr A. Seitert. Accounts totalling £'sl9? 8s Id. were ■passed for payment. INTEREST UN LOANS. The Public W|Mfcs Deplartmfent wrote that the Minister of Public Works had now given his approval of the payment, o)f th,e second year's, interest and sinking fund on " '!;• Board's loan of £BO,OOO, which won Id lie tailing due on December 21st, being made out of loan nionev.—lleceived. Mr T. W. Kirk, trustee for the luminal i Estate, forwarded a copv o agreement in respect of the Board's transmission line crossing the estate. —Agreed that the agreement be accepted. LOAN INSTALMENT. Tlie Government Life Insurance Department notified the Board that the first instalment of £IO,OOO of the Board's Joan of £40.000 had been paid into tihe Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, for forwarding to Levin.— j Received. The Engineer, Mr T. Overton, reparted as follows : N B!uild,ings.—fThe only work now proceeding minder this heading is the second residence in Mako Mako road, and it is expected that the contractor will complete tin's building aiboul The end of next week. Tlie work lias gone on very satisfactory. Jn order to finish and better lighting the interior walls oil' both the -Shan-non-and Levin sub-stations have been whitewashed. Installations: Tenders for groups in . Otaki and Levin comprising fil installations In each have .been invited. The number Of consumers signed up in the northern portion of the Board's District, are:—Lighting 626, ranges 30, wafer services 50, industrial motors 25, and in the southern .area (Otaki and south 1 hereof) :—Lighting 134, ranges 5, industrial motors 2. In Shannon and immediate vicinity 66 installations have been inspected and passed for pavment, whilst in Otaki Messrs Turn'bull and ' Jones have completed 16 installations—same have been inspected and passed 'under the Board's iby-laws. The total installation figures to dale are as follow.—

''<o •Milking Motors VO- - motors 27 During the morning of the !Jth inst. current "was switched on the Manga-hao-Shannon line by the Public Works Department from the steam plant. On that date the Board's staff connected 120 houses and the street lighting system, -'consisting of 40 lights; no trouble whatever was experienced and everything has been very satisfactory since. The required number of meters have been tested and erected in each consumer's premises. Messrs R. Y. Walls and Go. are making good progress with the Poxton Borough group. Messrs Eeles and Co.. Lunh and Henley, and Alien and Gilmour have each commenced work on the group contracts awarded them at last board meeting. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. The election of chairman for the ensuing year according to Statute took place at this point, tlie secretary, Mi- P. W. Goldsmith, taking the chair for the time being. Mr Matheson, speaking to his motion that Mr Monk should be reelected, stated that he felt sure he was voicing the wishes of the Board and of tihe ratepayers of the district in so doing. Mr Monk had during the past two years given his whole-hearted attention to the interests of the Board a,nd they could not 'do (better than reelect fhiin for the conning year. The motion was seconded by Mr Gunning and carried unanimously. Mr Monk, in resuming the chair, thanked the memhers of the Board, for their expression of confidence. Tlie work was interesting and when the Board had such able officers as in the Horowheuua. district there AVas very little trouble. Looking ahead he 'could see. that they would ha.v.e tilieir little troubles in the future, but as long as the Board pulled together thev could meet them as thiey arose. He'would like to say a. few words regarding the start. They had every reason to congratulate themselves on the. staff, not QnW on appointments the Board had ir.adie but on those which had been made right down the ladder. They hod an organisation of which they had every reason to 'bo proud. The public also had given them every assistance and it was a great help to them 'in carrying out the work. The press throughout the district 'had given every assistance: nothing had ever been, too much trouble and if any criticism had been made he fe.lt it Was made with the intention of benefiting the district. TENDERS ACCEPTED.
