Cr. Curran drew attention to Hie light in sheenan street, winch lie said was obscured,by overhanging trees on tlie road.—The.property Wler to be notified to cut the trees back. ■:.' '■ Cr. Hyde recommended '„ removing the lights in Ballance street to the middle of the road as they would then, give double the .'lighting effect. In conversation with Mr Jack the latter had intomied him the cost would be trivial.lt was decided to ask the Power- Board to have the lights mentioned' suspended;in the middle of the street. • '
The Mayor said he thought it would be a good id-era if tJie school teachers warned the children regularly as to the danger of coming into . contact with fallen wires, also that the Power Board be asked to issue pamphlets pointing out the dangers. Mr Gunning said he would bring this matter: before the Board at its npxt meeting. Cr. Murray recommended a light be placed in front of the Council Chambers, also that the Railway Department be urged to put in the-light at the railway station. He said it appeared x to him. extraordinary'■ to see the town jit up and the railway station, in darkness. r" '' It was decided to write the Minister of Public Works that .the electric light ha,d not yet been put in in the Government buildings in Shannon and ask him to matter his-atteh* tion..
