FOOTBALL.

VISIT OF MARISTS. A team from the Marist Brothers Football Club, Wellington, inet and played a local fifteen on Monday. The visitors were victorious after a well contested game by i 4 to 8. The. game was played in the best of spirits, and Mr L. Randall refereed. In the evening the local team entertained the visitors to a dinner at the Club Hotel, at which His Worship the Mayor presided. In a short speech he paid a tribute to the visitors l'or their manly bejarinjg and splendid conduct and expressed a Wish that the team would again visit Shannon. Mr W. Moynilhan said he thought it would be a good thing to make the gam ej' an annual one. At the conclusion cheers were given by the visitors for the Shannon Club and the Ideal boys returning the compliment.
