UNVEILING SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL.

ANZAC DAY

The Mayor (Mr W. Murdoch) presided. Apologies were received from Messrs Waring .Tavior, 11. Andrew and W. Voysey. " [ j The Mayor, after explaining. the' | purpose of the''meeting, said he had I ) enquired from the returned soldiers j and others as to who should be got to , .* perform the unveiling ceremony and it had been decided to ask Mr Clutha Mackenzie. As regards the programme to be carried out he asked for suggestions. He also said that the Foxton Band bad offered their services and a piper (Mr J. Grant) of Palmerston North was willing to play the Lament.

It was decided that the unveiling take place at 10.20 n.m. and that the programme open with a hymn, followed by. prayer, after which Mr Clutha. Mackenzie would give an address and nnveiKtlre memorial. The school children and others who wished could then place wreaths on the monument, which would he followed bv the singing of the National Anthem bv the school children.' A fir- | mg party from Palmerston North will tiro a. volley, after which, the ‘-La.st Post” will be sounded. ' •

Tt was resolved that seats be provided in a prominent position for parents and returned soldiers.

The Fbxt.on Band will play the children from the school down to the monument.

During the ceremony it was decided fo request that vehicular traffic be diverted to the hack streets. Mr -T. T. Bovis said he would call a. meeting for Saturday night of all returned soldiers for the purpose of making nnv arrangements they, might think fit.

It- was decided to hold the next meeting on Wednesday, April 23.
