BUTTERFAT RETURNS.
SATISFACTORY POSITION
As a result of the more favourable, weather conditions, .the 'factory returns for the month throughout the district show a decidedly more satisfactory condition as compared with the corresponding month of last year, than did the January-February' period in which there- was a marked decline.
A gradual falling" off of supplies at this time of the year is natural, but was accentuated in that period by the dry weather and consequent shortage of feed, so that returns were considerably below those of the same period for 1923.
This month, tihe figures at the Levin Co-op. Dairy Factory are substantially the same as those of last month, and well up to those of the FebruaryMarch period of 1923, which when the set-back of the earlier part of the season is taken into account must be considered very satisfactory. The pay-out was at the rate of Is 7d per lb of butterfat. Other payments are as follow New Zealand Farmers’ Dairy Union, butter. Is i|d; Whakaronga, butter Is 63d, cheese Is 4sd; Awahuri, butter Is 6d; Kairanga, butter Is 4d, cheese Is 3d; Reliance, Cheese Is 3d; Tiakitahuna, cheese Is 3d; Ravenswood, cheese, ls.4d; Shannon, butter Is 6Jd; Newbury, cheese Is 3d; Palmerston North Dairy Co., butter Is 6d. v
