“DOES IT PAY?”
The Maoriland Theatre has booked “Does it Pay?” for Saturday. .This; Fox special' production deals with a phase of life which touches close the dangers besetting- the home. Tne plans of a designing young woman, to take the place of the faithful wife of an elderly millionaire are laid bare, : and the consequences of a man’s tolly are revealed with compelling truthfulness. The opening scenes show the security and calm of the erring man s life while he is content to walk in the path of duty and fulfil his obligations to his family. The contrasting scenes, after he lias yielded to temptation and permitted his new wife to surround herself with her “fast” friends and given her lover the run of the lioulse, throw a strong dramatic light on the story. The question asked bv thie title, “Does it Pay?” is answered with telling, effect. At the head of the cast of skilled players is Hope Hampton. In the character of the fascinating but unprincipled second wife she is given an opportunity to do some of the strongest acting oT her career.
“ONE WONDERFUL NIGHT.” ' By mistake he carried off ai\ lOivercoat, and in the pocket found a marriage license hearing the names of .lean de. courtois and Hermoine Fane. Visil in.gr Hermoine, John Curtis found she had hired do Courtois .to marry her to escape marriage to Count de Mauriat. She was distressed at the news of de Courtois’ apparently having been killed. By a will she must marry by midnight, or lose her fortune. Curtis came to her rescue and they were married. From that moment they were plunged into an Arabian Night of thrilling mystery and adventure. That is just a taste of the thrilling tenseness of “One Wonder-1 ful Night,” which is bringing Herbert Rhwlinson as star to the Maoriland . Theatre next Monday. I
