A number of Wairarapa apiarists were fined £2 and 7s costs for keeping bees in other than proper hives, and for not complying with the notice to transfer the bees they were fined £1 and costs. The bee inspector's return fare to Wanganui was apportioned among the various defendants.
A Wanganui schoolboy, who was cycling slowly in the vicinity of the circus, was pulled up suddenly as if both brakes had been applied at once (relates the Wanganui "Herald"), Looking round, he discovered that a playful baby elephant had stopped the bike's progress by twisting her leathery trunk around .the spokes in the back wheel.
