THE FEBRUARY. MEETING
The monthly meeting of «he Shannon school committee was hejd on Friday evening when Mr Jas. Muridy presided over a full attendance of members. , _, .. n Co A letter was received irom the fc>ecretary of the Education Board re the delay of Mr Powles, clerk of works, I in visiting Shannon to confer with the I committee regarding the proposals foi \ laying out the school grounds and i carrying out improvements, pointing lout flhat owing to the large amount o ) building that the Board is at present 1 carrying out in other districts it has,, been impossible for him to get heie earlier, but he will arnye any day now.—Received. The Secretary of the Board also wrote in respect to, the arrangements . for conveying tilS-cllildrn .irom MangaCrs to iiie School, making suggestions for the proper control of the children while on the char-a-banc and stating that the Public Works Department motor expert would make a regular inspection qf the conveyance but that he would take no res-
ponsibility in connection therewith.— It was decided to write the secretary of the Board informing him that the Committee now places the responsibility on the Board. lor the proper supervision of the. conveyance of the children. xi ■ _, ~ A letter was received fromi the Railway Department granting a special '•■train for the annual picnic on Saturday February 16, leaving Shannon 7. <5 a.m'., reaching plimmerton at m 8 a.m. leaving on the return at 4.30 pm.' reaching Shannon at 6-35 p.m.
