BOXING.
BIG PROFESSIONAL BOUT. : V Arrangements' are well forward 'lor the second tourney to be conducted by the Shannon Boxing Association which is to take place in the Druids’ Ball on Saturday evening next, when the big attraction will be a tenround professional bout for a purse of £IOO sovs. between the featheirweights, Brown (Ta|jmaranui) and Clinton (Palmerston). Both boys, who have just joined the ranks of the “pros.” have sjplendid amateur performances to recommend them-. While in amateur status the pair met twice, the first occasion resulting in
a draw, and the second time of meeting Brown secured a verdict by the narrowest .margin on points. This will be Clinton's first professional fight, but Brown opened his campaign last week at Hastings when he knocked-out Overend in the tenth round. As . Olimton has improved wonderfully since he 'last met Brown it is anticipated a splendid fight will be put up between them. There will also 1 be an amateur light-weight novice competition and four other amateur events, including a match between \WiMen (Palrrtertson) and .o’Gradv (Arapeti). which in itself is a big draw. The programme that is being submitted is a first-class one and should be a fitting conclusion for a day’s outing to those who attend the athletic sports during the day.
