ATHLETIC CONTROL.

WELLINGTON CENTRE ? T EETS. The monthly meeting of the Wellington centno of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held at the Y.M.C.A. last night. . It was also stated that the Waikanae A.A. Club had applied for affiliation with the sub-centre, and the centre was asked whether the club carojs within the sub-centre's boundary. The secretary said that the positions of Paraparaumu, Levin, Otaki, and Te Horo were also in question, and it was decided that the clubs concerned should be asked to meet the committee on the 19th inst., to consider the matter; and that at the same time the question of thfc provincial country club championships, which Wairarapa is asking for, should be dealt with. The Levin Club's meeting has been fixed for January 22nd, and the"' Te Horo Club and the Linton Club asked that their meetings should be fixed for January 30th and Itebruafy 13th respectively. —It was decided that the programmes for the meetings must :ivst be submitted to the centre.

The Levin programme was approved, with the exception that the centre resolved to require that the entrance fees for all the events be Is, whereas for some of them it had been put at. '.is. Tl'i; general opinion was expressed that it was not fair that young members should be charged 2s for one race. A young fellow could not afford to pay his train fare and then pay 2s per race entrance fee. It meant that he could only enter for one or two races at most, and that would not be worth his while, considering the low value of the trophies. It was suggested that the value of 'the trophies should also be made universal at, say, £2; but this was not taken up.
