OPERATING. IN LEVIN
The operations of a night prowler are disturbing the residents of Levin. Rumours of , his ac%itie s . have been current for sOime pme, 'and oh at least two occasions tiie individual, has been surprised while trespassing on private property. On Tuesday-a resident,' in view* of recent "'■ events;: was making a toutf of his garden before retiring, widen a man started out of the darkness close to. the hedroom windows and vaulted the fence between the'house and that of the next door neighbour. He landal on the, iatter's verandah with a. cra,&h and dashed round it into the shrubbery on the other side "of the house witlli the citizen and his neighbour in full pursuit. They searched the : shrubbery and it is now clear that while they were doing so the nightibird laept on right r-oiund the house, leaped .tiie drive gates and escaped into the street. There Is a muddy iootnoaxk on the white paint of the gate. At the spot where the man climbed, the fence a pair of boots with rubber heels, was found and Hhere are footpalnts under one of the bedroom windows. The matter has' hjeen reported to the police and enquiries are being made.
