NO SON SUCCEEDS.

FORTUNE’S FREAK WITH TITLE,

DEATH OF BARON HOTHAM,

The death is announced of Lord Hoiliam, at his seat, Dalton Hall, Yorkshire, aged CO. Owner of a considerable estate, Lord Hotham devoted the greater part of his time to his hobby of working as a mechanic. At Dalton Flail was a workshop equipped with the latest machinery. Lord Hotham was the sixth baron, and by a curious turn of fate, it has so befallen that son has never succeeded father to the title. The new baron is Henry Frederick Flotham, a second cousin, the late Lord Hotham’s only children being two daughters. Admiral Hotham was the first baron, and under special remainder, the peerage went to his brother. The brother was succeeded by a grandson, the grandson by a nephew, the nephew by a brother, and the brother by a cousin (the late Lord Hotham).
