The story ofhQW a girl knocked; a man out was unfolded at the Murwillumbah (New South Wales). Court last week, when Mark Daley answered a charge of indecent behaviour. Mavis Doris Phillips, a member of Godfrey’s Boneless Wonders’ troupe;, touring the country towns of the State, told the Court that Daley said something offensive to her, when she told him to go away or she would knock him down. She'went into a shop. When she came out Daley followed' her to a tent and repeated what he had previously said, whereupon she hit. him on the jaW, knocking him out. . Another mail, standing near by, had told her he would “put her to sleep” for hitting his friend, and she replied: “Have a try.” He turned and walked away. Daley, who pleaded guilty, said he remembered nothing after he was hit until, he woke up in thepolice station. After he had cross-examined complainant, Daley said: “Well, Miss, I must say you. have a very good punch.” Daley was fined £5, In default _ a month’s imprisonment. The Magistrate complimented the girl upon her action, and said that if more girls acted in a similar way they would not be subject to insults and acts of hooliganism.
