ATTACK ON A POLICEMAN.
An attack on a policeman by a man whom he had previously aided was mentioned at Westminster Police Court, when James Murphy, 42, whose head was swathed in bandages, was>. charged with maliciously woundiug Folico-Constable Crocker.
i Tho policeman said he saw Murphy lymg en the ground with a cat in his j I hwul. He took him to St. Thomas's HosiO'.al, and after the injury had been treated they were going across Westminster Bridge when he felt a stab in the back. He turned round and saw Murphy with a clasp knife in his hand. He struck him twice with his truncheon and there was a struggle in which .Murphy twice tried ' to stab him. Murphy, who declared that his injuries were caused -' by Crocker's truncheon, was remanded. , ~,*
