GRAND SPORTS CONCERT.
The concert given on Thursday nigjht toy . supporters of the. Sports Queen (Miss E. King) to raise funds to further her candidature, Was » pronounced success, there heing a splendid , attendance, while the programme submitted was one of the best yet placed before a< Shannon audience. An outstanding feature of thje entertainment was the chorus by the 1 company, who put plenty of life into their work. The beautiful dresses worn by the chorus girls were much admired and represented the queen's colours—yellow: and black. The chorus nutnibers were "Mimi" and "I'm Going," Mr W. Quarrie taking the lead. Mr Bishop, in his old form, rendered a vocal item, "The Arrow," which was appreciated_by the audience. Little Phyllis Patton onije more, gave her services as a toe danqer and the highest] e£. recommjehdations is' no; too great to give this, little "Lotus Blossom,"' who tripped . across, the stage in her ..latest dance, "Valse Copelia." A monologue from .Mrs Melles revealed a highly-talented artist new to Shannon. A treat for the children in /"Rag Dolls" was displayed by Josie and Freda Thomson, Joyce Merwood and Lily Wiggins. An artist of noi mean ability is Mr, S. Henry, who greeted the audience with a humorous recitation. Mrs Bishop ydeal solo, "My Dear Soul," and was recalled to satisfy the audience. A concerted item "Come to tea" was given by Messrs W. Quarrie. and C Jennings, assisted by the company. Mr Aitken, in splendid form, rendened a vocal solo for which hej was Tecalled. A monologue from Miss Maitland proved that Shannon is not lacking in talented artists. A quartette by'Mrs Bovis (soprano), Mrs Bishop (alto), Mr W. Quarrie (tenor) and Mr Bishop (bass) whs enthusiastically A clog dance, given by Miss R. Terry,: was well appreciated.., The duet "Would you believe it?" by Mr C. Jennings and Mr S. Henry showed the capability of these singers. The last item Of the programme, a '"'The Brown's Outing," given by Miss S. Quarrie (Mrs Brown)';, Mr \V. Quarrie (Mr Brown), Mr' S. Henry (Georgie) wood (The Fussy Lady), and Mr lliches (Porter), caused roars of laughter and was a fitting finale to one of the most enjoyable entertainments yet held in x Shannon. '
