— / TO-MORROW NIGHT’S TOURNEY.
To-morrowi (Saturday) night the first tourney of the Shannon, Boxing Association will take place in the Druids’ Hall at 7.45 p.m., arrangements for which are now. well in hand. The box plan which is. filling rapidly the Association is new assured of a successful opening tourney. Those who have| not booked are advised tq get along early to secure a seat as the doors will be opened at 7 p.m. An orchestra has been engaged to enliven proceedings until the first bout commences at 7.45 p.m.
The secretary has received advice tb-diay that Carroll and Pearce, bantams, and! Guriy and. Ihopa, Wellington’s ■ representatives, have come through their hard training and will arrive in Shannon at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Palmerston also advises that all the boys matched 1 are in solid training and are all confident of putting up 'good fights. , The .staging lent by Palmerston Association has arived and been erected and the. ring is 'being erected today. t . Messrs Talbot (secretary Wellington Boxing Association), Hull, Guise, and Stewart, also of Wellington, also Mr T. Tracey, as referee, will be present, including representatives from’ ManaWatu Association.
The material that will come forward, including our local boys, points to the Association having a most successful tourney.
