SATURDAY'S TOURNAMENT
Trie Shannon! Bcxing Association will hold- their initial tournament on Saturday evening next at the Druids' Hall, a "full programme appealing on outr front page. The Association has received strong support from Wellington and! Plalmlerston North cie-iw Ires. Mr Dawson, secretary <oi the WJellingltoin : Bioxing 'Centre, will bet in attendance, and also the president and several rniembiers from Manawatu,, Hawerai and Wanganui Associations. The secretary, Mr J. T. Bovis, h ! a,s received many congratulatory letters on the Association's success in arranging the Clinton (Pailmerston North .v. Hlaick (Wellington) bout, and f as Mr Tim Tr&ciey,- the well-known boxing referee, has accepted the position of ; referee for next Saturday's tournament, patrons can be assured of interesting houts" and juist verdicts. All the contestants aire 'amateurs, which, includes Carroll, winner of the bantam weight championship ait the recent Wellington itournamenit, and also; a, number of our lodal lads, who are making their first public appearance.
