A PARK FOR SHANNON.
(To the Editor.) /Sir,—ln connection with this subject, tinder discussion. by the Borough Council, I to entirely with Mr Garter with regard to this being a requisite for the town. I sold 20 acres, partly native bush to the citizens of Grey town for a similar, purpose. It was not a Borough Council proposition, but was sitarted by thneie ratepayers. They gave me £BO per acre, and tl'ie! money was raised by public subscription, isdine giving as mucli' as £SO. The success Was due to the ladies of Greytown, not the men! The park is properly laid out and has all the '.requisites* for amUiserniehit for aduJt and children. It is within 15 chains of the Post Office and it is called "The Soldiers' Memorial Park." Memorial have 'been planted by those who lost relatives in the War. The land fihiere, as quoted, seems to be a fair proposition if near to the qetatre of the town. I would like to givie some quotations from a book I have,. "Parks of the World," English, Irish, Austrian, American, etc. If the Borough Council would like to sea the book I shall be pleased to leaMe! it in charge \of the Town Clerk, Mr Bovis. I think you ishould hack Mr Garter up ini this matter.—l am, etc., DM. O'CONNOR.
