HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Horowhenua County Council was held in the Council Chambers on Saturday, the chairman (Cr. G. A. Monk) occupying the chair. Also present: Cr ß . Barber, Jjensen, Bryant, Broadbelt, Harkness, Catley, Ryder and Whyte. Accounts totalling £2829 18s 2d were passed for payment. . NEW BY-LAW.
From the Department of Hea/lthi enclosing a copy of the new plumbing and! drainage regulations under the Health Act, 1920. The chairman said that in reference to this a conference had been held in Feilding recently to consider! th)9 frajmina of by-laws. A copy of these lay-laws wias blefore that meeting and it was decided) to H 6e P them in mind when framing uniform by-laws for the Counties interested.—Received: The Depai'tmient of Health also wrote enclosing .a copy of the by-laws regulating this registration ,of offensive trades.—Received 1 . . . In answer to Cr. Harkness who asked if the Council would have,an opportunity of inspecting the by-laws drafted by the conference, the cnairm,an replied in the affirmative, statin o- that the recommendations oi the conference would! be submitted to the .various Counties for ratification. FLOODING OF, PROPERTIES. The Department of Lands and 1 Survey forwarded a tracing of the Kuku Soldiers' Settlemextt 'and asking that the County take steps to have a certain drain fronting sections % and 6 cleaned out in order to prevent, flooding of properties, lower down.—Decided that the matter ihave .early attention. lt ; t, Mr« Emily Gapper forwarded ■ a
claim for the sum .<*' £250 for alleged damages caused 'to her .property by water-logging through the leakage ot water-races. '■','*. On the suggestion of the chairman it wias decided that v letter he written stating that the matter ceive the earliest possible attention, > THE RADIUM FUND. ' The secretary of the Radium, Fund which has ia s its object the raising of a fund -to provide a sum. of money sufficient to purchase & supply ol *adiuih for the Wellington Hospital to 'be used in 1 the treatment of cancer, Wrote asking the Council's, support

The Chief Traffic Inspector of the Auckland City Council wrote .asking that, a, reciprocal arrangement should be arrived at whereby the certaficate of a motor-driver, if cancelled as the result of his heing an improper person owing to drunkenness, etc., to possess same, should not : be, re torned to him by a neighbouring author-; \tSn n OT.CE S AT KOPOTAROA From the Koputaroia. The Engineer promised- that the matter would receive early attention Cr Harkness (Wirokino 'Riding) drew''attention to «. culvert afc. toe bottom of McLeavey's hill at Ohau, which appeared to.be breaking away.
