CONCERT AT KOPUTAROA.
VERY SUCCESSFUL EFFORT,
. There was a large attendance at the concert given last evening by. the "Maori Entertainers" at the, Koputaroa Hall, in aid of funds for the buildings. The : performance inqluded poi -dances, hakas, part songs and individual items and showed ability of a very high order, especially when it is remembered that : the performers were in almost all oases amaturs. , Two items which deserve particular mention are a violin, solo by Miss A. Pickles, of'Foxton, who although only' fourteen years of age displays vtery conjsidierabliel talent, and who played "Home, Sweet Home": and "Mignonette" with <a technique and depth of • feeling, which displayed artistry of a high order. . - Another performer whose items imet with the heartiest appreciation of the audience was' Mr, H. Bakaraia, who possesses a silver • tenor voice of unusual range and purity, and who had to submit to insistent recalls on ach occasion he appeared. The company, it is understood, is to go on tour shortly and with a little attention to detail,in the matter of stage cmft; etc, should meet with great success.
