TENNIS.
•On Wednesday afternoon the Moutoa Tennis Club opened their season in the presence of a large attendance Of members and visitors. Mr W. Smitlv iri the • courts open, said he hoped that, by next season the Club will (have an additional court put down. He congratulated .the club on its finance and sociability and extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, for whom Mr Howard Andrew suitably replied. " Afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies and a most'enjoyable afternoon was' spent. The annual meeting of the Shannon Tennis Club will be held on Wednesday evening next, when important matters in' connection with the new courts will be dealt with and arrangements made.for*the opening of the season* All .members are earnestly requested? to attend. * The contractors for the laying down of the four new courts for the local tennis club have now completed the work and it is 'expected the courts will be ready to play on during the first week in December.
