SCHOOL BOOKS AND CENTRALISED SCHOOLS. At a meeting of teachers held at Shannons on Saturday last several matters of general interest came up lor discussion. The question of school books was one. In the Wellington area the only miscellaneous reader is the School Journal and it was felt that a miscellaneous reader which would be; of use for .several years might conveniently be'added. 1 ' , , ' - Consolidated schools is a live" question at this moment and the 'Minister talks of initiating one or more in each island a.s experiments. It was pointed Put at the meeting that both at Levin, and Shannon there are consolidated schools which have been in operation for several years, particularly at Levin. This has proved its worth by the status Levin has obtained and the Department could get all the .information necessary from an inquiry into the working in this district. i
