ART TREASURES FOR THE U.S.A.
More art treasures have been sent from England to the United States since the war than were "captured" by American millionaires during twenty years before 1914. The need for cash felt in the last few years by English owners of art treasures has led to an organised "treasure hunt" by wealthy collectors' across the Atlantic, and their agents here are always on the look-out for additions to their private galleries. The Uniter States Consul-General in London states that last year objects of art to the value of about £2,000,000 were shipped to the United States froto London, about £500,000 more than in 1921. During the last six months £750,000 worth of art treasures have been sent from London to xhe United States. At every sale of works of art held in London or in the provinces there id a dealer "hunting" on behalf of American clients, and as he usually has liberty of action in regard to bidding it is rarely he fails to get what lie wants.
