WAIKANAE BEACH SECTIONS.

DETAILS OF SALE.

The sale of seaside sections, h'eld on behalf of Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., at "Waikanao on Saturday, was no doubt the best sale of property ever held in the district, and it is evident that Waikanae will become large on the map as a seaside resort. For the past few weeks section-seekers have visited the locality, while on the day of the sale scores of people went over the land, many coming from as far afield as Rotorua, Dannevirke, and Lower Hutt. Prior to the commencement of the sale, Mr. F. "W. Carey, manager for the N.Z'. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., by whom th'e sections were offered, stated that there had been a delay in -the completion of streets owing to illness, but that no time would now be - lost to have the various thoroughfares completed. A fine water service, which, however, would be improved, had been put in, and fvvbi sections (171 and 172) reserved for the purpose. Lot 58 had also been withdrawn from sale as this was low-lying .and would be. a splendid place for the dumping of Timber Avas available, while there was plenty of good river shingle for concrete work.. Transport was also good. A'restriction, stated Mr. Carey, had been placed o:i ». the purchase of sections and no one would be allowed to purchase more than, five, this step being deemed advisable to stop speculation, only legitimate settlers being desired. A golf course would bo ready at an early date. Mr. Carey added that Mr. Mold had received a tempting offer for the whole of the property but, having no'desin to break faith with the public, had de cided to offer the property by auction The terms of sale, said Mr. Carey, were very generous, the prospects. ''were • v bright, Waikanao promising to 'become a prosperous place, while fine reserves had been provided for.

/ The average for the 105 sections was ' about £9B, while the total of the land \sold amounted to over £10,300. ,■'■'■ At the conclusion of the sale Mr. Field thanked all for their attendance, affel later expressed himself as very ■" well; satisfied with the sale. • Following is the list of sections sold, and names of buyers and prices:— £ ' Sec. 46—8.
