SHANNON QUEEN CARNIVAL.
The Foxton supporters of the Fibre Queen are running a dance next Friday in Foxton and will be pleased to gee visitors from Shannon. A bus will leave Shannon Friday evening for the-dances. Particulars as to time, fares, etc.,' can be obtained from Mr J. V. Burns.
At the Fibre Queen Committee mieeting held! at Mr Greedy's residence on Wednesday last, it was decided to keep on running the stall in, the town each Saturday until the termination of the carnival, also 1 to run a. candle lighting competition. The c&ndle will be lit by the Mayor and placed in Mr George's window. The competition is to estimate the time the candle burns out.
The time at which the clock stopped was 1.29 and the winner wa« Mr W. Anderson,, of Miiranui Mill,, whose guess was .1.30!.
