SHANNON SCHOOL CARNIVAL.
! A SPLENDID EFFORT. OVER £350 RAISED. The Queen Carnival , for the purpose •of raising funds for the school picnic ani improvements to the school grounds was brought to a fitting conclusion pn Friday evening, so iar as votes for the queens was concerned, by the- holding of a monster bazaar in the Druids' Hall, where a large crowd assembled. Each queen 'committee had a stall, all of whichi were tastefully decorated, 'depicting the various colours and ‘being* loaded with .tempting and useful goods. ,of all descriptions. Combined. with the fancy drosses of a large number of those in ct-ondance, the whole scene in the hall was a very 'animated one and a real .hive of activity. Being the final effort to secure the premier position, the large committee working on . behalf of each queen left no stone unturned to secure every penny. Every one' was “’all. out” from the word “go” until the’ finish at J 1 p.m. V Prior to the opening of the • bazaar a full jazz band marched from Mrs Aldei'sey’s corner to the hall; where during the evening they rendered items and together with the Pierrot troupe added much to the enjoyment of the evening. Apart from the stalls there were, tea-rooms and side-shows consisting of hoop-la, Aunt Sally, for-tune-telling, the model husband, etc., all of which caused a lot °f fun’.' Several competitions were drawn but the majority of results were not made known until Saturday evening.
