SHANNON SCHOOL CARNIVAL.

GRAND BAZAAR. For some time past a ladies’ committee organised by Mesdames Bovis and Laurviig, have -been working hard in arranging to .hold a bazaar in aid of the school picnic and ground ini/ provements, and to-night as a result of their efforts a monster bazaar will

open in the Druids Hall at 7.30 p.m., and be continued on Saturday afternoon and evening, which we feel sure will have the strongest support of the public of Shannon. The object is a most worthy one and it behoves every person to assist. There- will be plenty of -amusements for young and old and a golden opportunity to obtain bargains from the stalls, where anything l-rorn a needle to- an anchor can be found, while those who desire to look into the future can do so by .visiting the Gipsy fortune teller from Cairo., There will be competitions -of all des-1 criptions. The children are not fobgotten as there will be hundreds . of lovely “dips\” a “balloon” stall and a “Dollies’ Outfitter.” A sitting Of the Shannon Court -of Injustice will take place at 8.30 p.m., and from the charge sheet we have perused, some sensational cases -are to be heard and nothing is to- be heard in camera; so don’t miss the fun.

•The queen competition closes on Friday evening at 11 p.m,. and the coronation takes place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, the ceremony to ■be conducted by Mrs. Jas. Murray, wife of the chairman of the School Committee-. Nothing will be wanting as regards the- crowning, as there will be ladies in waiting, pages, etc., and the cerem-ony will certainly be worth witnessing. Quaint little musical items wall be rendered by the school children* and the whole should provide a most pleasant afternoon’s enjoyment., The ladies in’ charge ,of the supper rooms are putting on a light cold meat te-a' on Saturday between. 5.30 and 7 p.m. All who do not widh to return -home for tea can therefore be assured of an ample repast at tbe Druids’ Hall for the small charge- of is.

All who have instruments, or who c-an make a noise are asked; to join in the Jazz Band procession from the Club Hotel corner at 7.15 on Friday night. Word has . been received from j the fortune teller to the. effect that she will arrive at 8 p.m. on Friday -night and will be in attendance -on Saturday night also. The public are requested to note that only Friday night’s -takings on the allotted stalls will be devoted to the .queen carnival. The winner of the queeni carnival will, not be ffiade known, till Saturday afternoon, when the crowning of the successful little lady will take place l at 3 p.m Come along on Saturday night and still help to-swell the'funds for the ground- improvements. A programme of novelties has been -arranged and all goods not sold will -be auctioned.
