THE SCHOOL CARNIVAL.
NOTES ON THE CONTEST. V * . A The school committee and'organisers of the school carnival bazaar, wish to express their hearty appreciation of the action of the executive and various committees of the Domain Queen Carnival, in offering the use of their stalls in the town, and all their services for the benefit of the sdfool queen candidates, on Saturday. We believe there will be Home produce stalls, and numbers of competitions working ini the interests of the individual queens. There is also to be a fancy dress hockey match at the Domain, where there will be a collection taken for the general school picnic fund.
, Next Saturday at 7 p.m. an' exceptional jazz'band of 20 artist's will parade at Mrs Arder&ey’s corner and march; to the bazaar, where they will 'entertain, the public at short intervals with bright and breezy music.
We understand the first sitting of Shannon Court of Injustice will be held in the Druids’ Hall at 8.30 p.m 1 . on Friday,. October 12t,h. Some sensational cases are to be tried and nothing is to be heard in camera. Hard-up prospective bridegrooms are reminded of the wedding ring. —— and (names on, application to the secretary) -are advised to call at the parcels tent early or they ma,y both miss this unparalleled opportunity. The school bazaar organisers have discovered some excellent home confectioners in the town and all patronising the sweets stall can be sure of getting good wholesome lollies.
Children are here reminded to save up their pennies. Hundreds of lovely "dips,” a "balloon.” stall, and a “Dollies’ Outfitter” are to be at the bazaar
Mothers! Summer Will soon he with us, and if you go along to the bazaar on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening, you will probably find iust the frocks to fit your families, and thereby save yourselves the worry of making'them., and at the same time be helping to give the children a splendid picnic, and an improved school ground. Remember the mud of last win tor!
Everybody roll along and take a of winning the fat little suck-ing-pig. What a, feast some one will have next, week! Who will be Queen of the School Carnival? Go along to the Coronation on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. to find out arid l at the same time hear the quaint little musical item to be rendered by the school chldren.
The organiser's request'that all who are sending "parcels” and “dips” will send them to Mrs Lnurvigj or Mrs Terry as soon, as possible a,s there is a lot of work entailed in parcelling and numbering. It. is reported that the ladies. are hard at work practicing nail-driving and wood-sawing, so there should he some keen competition’.. Fresh sandwiches and home-made cakes will be supplied in the supperrooms.
The organisers request all who can (both children and adults) to go in fancy dress and mask or else wear a mask with ordinary dress. This is optional, of course, but "many masks make much merriment.”
