BOXING ASSOCIATION FOR SHANNON.
Several local boxing enthusiasts ha.va been lor some time discussing the desirability of forming; a boxing association in Shannon, and last we'ek the matter was brought to a head when at a. joint committee meeting of representatives from the Fibre anti Sports Committee of the Shannon Queen Carnival, held at Miranui, it was decided tlhat a Boxing Associa,tion be formed in Shannon, the said association to affiliate with the Manawatu BJdxiing Association, not jwith the idea, of - being! governed by that body, but for the purpose of getting advice or assistance.
It Avas decided to immediately apply to the NeAv Zealand Boxing Council, through the ManaAvatu Association for a permit to hold tournaments.

JudcT, senr. A. Judd, junr.. J. Hennessey; secretary, Mr J. T. Bovis; treasurer, Mr H. Greedy; timekeeper, Mr W. Mcclerk of scales, Mr G. Haycock, seconds, Messrs H. ■ BurroAV-s and SCording; announcer, Mr H. Greedy. A referee is to be appointed later. Dr. .Macdonald is to be approached with a, view t n his becoming medical examiner to the Association.

Mr Steer Was appointed to interview two gentlemen prominent, in the Manawatu Association to act. as jiffi^es. The fee for membership was fixed it "< 0/6.
. , It .was decided that the first tournament be .held on a date to be arranged by the management committee. . ioAvairds the latter end of October.'
A' general meeting of members and intending members will be held on Thursday evening next, at 8 p.m.
