CONSTITUTION OF WEST COAST DISTRICT.

At its meeting on Saturday the Horowhenua County Council received a letter from the District Highways Council, stating that the Gouncil approved of tW & constitution of the Highways District comprising Kiwitea, Pohangina, Oroua, Kairanga, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Hutt ana Makara. The appointment. would entail a deal of time and expense and the Council should decide to pive the same rate of pay as given a 'representative attending a, Council meeting. In answer to Cr. Broadbelt, the chairman said the expenses would be paid from the Council’s funds. The chairrpan suggested that, the rale of pay be £1 'a day and travelling expenses as allowed by the Council. * This was agreed to.
