DAIRY PRODUCE CONTROL ACT.
HOW POLL IS TO BE TAKEN
Arrangements have now been made by Mr G. G. Hodgkins (chief electoral officer) to take the necessary poll un der the Dairy Control Act. as to whether the Act should come into operation.
The method adopted in the compilation of the required roll necessitated the sending ouit. of circular let-, ters to the secretaries of 563 registered factories in the Dominion,, requesting each io send in. the. name and address of every supplier to the factory lor the last year and present season. The lists are to be sent to the, returning officer by to-day, and it is estimated that this will result in about. 60,000 suppliers being enrolled. When these lists come to hand they will he carefully checked for duplications, as in some cases dairymen, supply more than one factory, but this does not entitle them to more than one vote. -Each supplier will have a, special number on the roll when it is completed and will he 1 forwarded him, by posit. Alter exercising; his vote the paper will be sent to the returning officer and must reach him by noon on October 17. at which hour the poll closes* The question will be decided on an absolute majority of the valid votes' cast, so it behoves every supplier to see that his vote is recorded. Arrange 1 - ments will be made for scrutineers representing both sides of the question to We present at the count.
