SHANNON SCHOOL CARNIVAL.
IN AID OF PICNIC FUND. A gpod start has been made with the local school carnival. bazaar, and according to the .-(‘dodgers” which are now out one and all should have a very enjoyable time at the entertainment. Voting tickets represent--•4ng tlie various queen . candidates (school children) were in evidence during the week-end and a very ready sale was reported.
A feature of the Friday night’s performane'e will be the' pitting of the stalls against each other in the -interest ol tbe individual queens, each stall representing a different queen. The Man gore ladies have formed a committee to work! up a plain and fancy work .stall, with its various riqil-driving and guessing, contests. The proceeds from this stall g - toward the candidature of the Mai'gore queen (Audrey Anderson).
Mr and Mrs Steer ere endeavouring to put on a “balloon stall,” which, together with the 3d and 6d bran dips, etc.,, will help to swell the funds for the Kingston road queen (Mollie Steer). Arrangements are now being made towards alloting the other stalls, and the whole idea should prove both interesting and profitable. . The other queens are Jean Rennie (Ara.peti), Angla Moynihan (East road), and Billie Brown (Senior School)..The Gypsy Waggon reports having 130 shilling parcels, and any one having articles of any kind worth 1/or more to give away, is asked to ring or write Mrs Bo vis. The supper rooms will be in charge of Mrs Burling) and a willing band of helpers’. There is a loud whisper -of .a brass band being in attendance, and a party of Jazz Pierrots undfer the leadership of Mr W. Qua-rrie is assured. The promoters are asking all who will to come in fancy dress and masks. The usual -shooting gallery, live stock weight-guessing, etc., win be in evidence.
