Mr R. ,S. Mitchell, or. KoputaTOa, had the misfortune last evening to suffjer a . compo'und ifractuire of the right arm as the result of a back-fire from a car which he was cranking. He was struck with the starting handle just above the wrist, with such force that part of the bone protruded through the flesh. Fortunately the accident occurred in Levin where he was able to receive immediate attention and 1 after having the arm set he was removed to the Levin, private hospital suffering somewhat from shock. Owing to the nature of the fracture it will be necessary for Mr Mitchell to proceed to Palmerston North to-morrow in order to have an X-ray examination* of the bone made
