FATAL ACCIDENT AT MANGORE.

MAN CRUSHED TO DEATH. At 4 p.m. yesterday a fatal accident occurred in !the, short tunnel leading into the surge chamber at Mangore, when a inan named Henry Frederick Deddlef Rex' was crushed to death. The deceased was driving the electric locomotive when he is believed to have struck his head on one of the cross beams. He . was knocked off the locomotive and falling between the latter and the wall of the tunnel became jambed, stopping the vehicle. When removed he. was found to be badly crushed and died Immediately. His injuries consisted of a crushed chest, ia broken leg and other injuries. Deceased, who was aged 50 years, is supposed to be a married man, whose wife is believed to reside at Kaiapoi.

Apy inquest is. bein&\ held at Miangore to-day.
