RANGITIKEI HUNT CLUB RACES.
SPLENDID WEATHER PREVAILS. HUNT CUP TO IIINGI. DEHOR WINS OPEN FLAT. Only a fair attendance was recorded at the Rangitikei Hunt Club’s Spring Meeting held at Marton yesterday in beautiful weather. The track was good, though somewhat heavy along the back stretch. The Cup went to Ringi who won comfortably from Tempo in a six horse race, white in the principal flat event Demos secured a creditable victory. During the day two judicial enquiries were held. The running of Lark Hall was questioned by the stipendiary stewards, and after having the trainee, the jockey (E. Warner) and the owner's representative before the meeting', the committee decided to accept the trainer and owner’s representative's explanation, but expressed strong disapproval of the handling of !he b.-wn by Warner, in the second race J. Barry (Piffle) and B. H. Morris (Brigadier Bill) w'. ir ( tinged with interference wth O’Shea (Sir Pam), and after the hearing, the two jockeys were severely cautioned. Arrangements were well car: ied out under the secretaryship of Mr A.' Way. After the steeplechase eevnt, Mrs W. H. Gaisford presented the Hunt Club’s Cup to the winning owner (Mr J. R. Northcott) congratulating him on the success of his horse. Cheers were given for Mr Northcott and for Mrs Gaisford. Throughout the meeting the Marton Band provided musical selections, to the enjoyment of those present. The totalisator handled £13,436, as compared with £5788 at the last meeting in July, representing an increase of £7,648. Results are;—•
