Messrs W. Burbidge and Co., fruit auctioneers and produce merchants, report:—Priees for green vegetables very high; root vegetables slightly easier; on Friday we sold a good sample of early potatoes from Mr. J. W. Hislop, Richmond, at 6£d per lb and on Saturday, from Mr. A. E. Max green peas at 8s lOd per peck of 7 lbs. This speaks well of that district for growing early produce. Eggs are lower. Apples low, with exception of Delicious (clean .varieties). These have improved in vs!lue. Current values: Delicious (clean) 6s ‘o 10s, (spot)* 4s ■' > 6s; Sturmers (clean,) 5s to 7s, (spot) 3s 6d to ss; cookers 4s 6d to 6s; Washingtons 4s 6d to 6s 6d Pears ( Winter Coles and Nelis 9s to 13s; Conference 6s to 8s; Vicars 5s to 6s 6d (all bushel cases). Vegetables: Cauliflower (best) 22s to 33s 6d; cabbage,-Savoys (best) 20s to 245, 6d; spring 9s to 15s; pumpkin 7s to 10s; marrows 7s to 9s 6d; carrots 7s-> to 9s; parsnips 8s to 12s (all full sacks); beetroot 4s (part sack); lettuce 8s to 15s; spinach 7s to 13s per case; rhubarb 12s to 24s per dozen bunches; eggs Is 6d to Is 7d per dozen.
