Speaking at the Waipa ■ County Council meeting Cr. Alexander stated that, while in .Wellington.-.last week' the chairman’' of the' Eltham County Council, speaking of their bitumen roads, said they had 175 miles in their county. This year their rate had been reduced from ljd to lid. They were still laying down more ‘bitumen roads and next year expected to reduce their rate to Id. They had to pay £1 a yard for their metal. This illustrated the success of bitumen roads, said Cr. Alexander, and he hoped his Council would go In for some such scheme, especially in the districts round Hamilton. ?
