LARGE YARDING OF PIGS
There was a. good yarding of a branches of stock at the Levin weekly sale yesterday, including the largest entry of pigs seen heite 10-r some years. Two hundred and fifty pigs of all classes were penned, vendors being -attracted by the high prices which have ruled of Late, and in consequence a noticeable falling off in prices resulted. There was a good inquiry lor breeding sows, which made up to £9. Sheep were in fair supply anq sola readily at advanced prices, especially breeding ewtas and l'ats. A fin® line of pure-bred) Romney ew|3 hoggets from the Boys’ Training Farm madfe 32-/3, wether hoggets of the same fine realising 28/-. . , The cattle were not on the whole of a high class and prices ruled accordingly. Quotations were as 1 allows : Pigs: Waametrs 15s to 255, stores 25s to 30s, fight porkers £2 to £2 ss, heavier to £2 12s 6d, choppers £3 10s, light baconers to £3 Is, empty sows £2, sows to farrow £5 15s, £7, £8 2s 6d to £9. Sheep: Fat wethers 33s to 35s 3d, prime fat ewes 335, fighter sorts 24s 9d, light fat hoggets 255, good twotooth ewes in lamb to Romney rains 35s 9d; 4-tooth to f.l'.m, ewes in lamb 31s 3d, aged ewes in lamb 25s 9d; purebred Romney ewes hoggets 32s 3d; ditto wiethers 28s, small ewe hoggets £l, medium, wether hoggets 22s 4d, poorer sorts 16s. Cattle: Fat cows to £5 15s; forward conditioned cows £2, store cows 21s to £2, cull dairy cows £3 5s to £4 ss; better sorts, according to quality, to £l3; springing heifers £5 to £8 ss; yearling hfeifers 30s to £2 11s.
