THE SHANNON LIGHTS.
(To the. Editor.) gi r will y°n please allow me a little'’space in your paper as 1 want to draw the attention of the poweis that be to the lighting scheme at Shannon with a view to effecting an un-
provement in same. ■ We' now have lights on the streets in Shannon and good lights too and sras light at that. I have no fault to find with the- light. But-1 have something to say about the lamps, viz., that a good many of them have no glass, and consequently when it blows hard the light gets blown out in the lamps that have no glass, and it looks to me to be a very foolish proceeding to go to the expense of putting up a light and then forgetting to put the glass in the lamp and let- j ting the gas get wasted. j I would like to propose to the Borough Council, or whoever has charge of the mater that some of the money | in hand which is to be used for beau- J tifying the town, be used right away for the purpose of putting glass in the J lamps I have already mentioned, and j I do npt know any way it can be used j to better advantage or effect, I am, sure a good many people in Shannon j will agree with me in this.—l am, etc., > DTP VAN WINKLE.
