COST OF BUILDING.

* QUEENSLANDER CENSURED BY ' FELLOW-MEMBERS. The opinion that the prices charged for the erection of buildings in New Zealand are unduly high was expressed recently by Mr A. E. Ingold, vicepresident of the. Queensland Master Builders’ Association during- a holiday visit he wlas making to the Dominion. Mr Ingold’s statements were challenged by local builders and the secretary of the AUcklahd Builders and Contractors’ Union of Employers has now received the following letter from, the secretary of the Suburban Master Builders’ Association of Queensland: “With reference to vours of March 9 last, addressed to the Queensland Association and which has been handed by that association to the above body, of which Mr Ingold is a memI am' now 1 directed to inform you ■hot Mr ingold: has now returned and was asked at a meeting of the association to give an explanation, of his action, when in, New Zealand. “He gave an explanation which was not considered satisfactory, and in consequence was censured by the ■meeting, it being pointed, out to him that as a; private individual he could of course, do* or say what he liked, but as a member of the association, more particularly as an officer thereof he had no authority whatever to drag this association into a controversy with a; kindred association m New Zealand, or. indeed, anywhere else. “I am instructed to convey to your association the deep regret of my association that one of its members should have, a s we consider it, abused the hospitality of another State, and by so doing running the risk of straining the friendly relations of a kindred association,. . . “You will, I think, now realise that what Mr In gold thought fit to do or say has met with our extreme disapproval, and it is hoped that you will not, connect, this association with any statement made by >an irresponsible member thereof. Again expressing our deep regret. I am, yours faithfully, Herbert Galford, Secretary.”
