THE LATE MRS PLUMRIDGE.

The late Mrs G. Plumridge, who. died at Heatheriea on Thursday, Was born at Tunbridge Wells, England, 82 years ago. She arrived with her parents, brothers and sisters in Adelaide by the ship Garland Grove, on June 9, 1849, and landed on the beach by boat, Adelaide being merely a village at that time. The family, resided in South Australia for some years, engaging in business very successfully as W. A. SWan and Sons. The Swan family was closely related to the Deakins, of Melbourne, of whom the Hon. Alfred Deakin, at one time prime Minister of the Commonwealth. was a prominent member and they were also connected with various personages holding important positions in business and the Army in England. The late Mrs Plumridge miarried in 1879 and resided in Sydney, Lismore and other parts of New South Wales, finally settling in New Zealand 22 years ago. She was an invalid in her later years and was, perhaps, not so widely known in these parts as in Australia, Where her sweetness of manner won for her a host of friends. She leaves a husband, -Mr George Plumridge, of Heatheriea, two sons, Mr G. H. Plumridge, of Kent street, Levin, and Mr F. J. Plumridge, of Wellington, and one daughter, Mrs W. R. Looner, and several grandchildren, to mourn their loss. They will have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.
