HUI MAI DEFEAT WERAROA.
The result of- the Weraroa-Hoi Mai match on Saturday was not unexpeot--ed, although on Weraroa,’s showing in th,e first half it looked as if that team nfight get through the game with! credit. The AA’eight of the Hui Mai pack. hoAvever, wore down their lighter opponents and for the first part of the second half, Weraroa appeared to have gone to piece:, eATn the hacks, which had put up a sound defence in the first spell seeming demoralised. Had it not, been for Wells, and one or two others of AAdiom ‘Hopa and Rangi Broughton may he mentioned, the second half Avould ha'fa been a rout.
Hui’ Mai undoubtedly played Avith nnro comhinalinn after the interval, and instead of being troubled by Iho first spell, were only steadied by it ns in flip aaoiv of a strong team. AAdiilst Weraroa playing all out to hold them in first bout, were done. Wernro-«, in the first spell had the disadvantage «*r playing Avith the sun in their eyes, Avliirh troubled them 1 considerably, clouds later on saAnng Hui Mai from Ihe same handicap.
Hui Mai started off by pressing hard ■down to the Whites’ 25. Wells saving from an ugly rush hv a long kick to the line at. half Avnv. A spell of hard even play followed the -core until Hui Mai’s fonvards got the hall and carrying it forward, passed to George. avlio rossed the line, amking ihe score even. Shortly after •>, free kick gave Hopa a shot at goal Prom near half-wav. which he brought off Tn the bout, that followed Weraron played hard and for ton minutes looked like scoring again. Hni Mai, hoAvevqr, broke nAvav, and added another try. and Ihe whistle went with Ihe scoring 6 all.

TOTCOMARU BEAT FOXTON. ;
PLAYERS STOOD ON LINE. Tokomaru met Foxton at Foxton and
after a. siromious game the former won iiy a points to nil. Play was oliiefly confined to the forwards and honours were about even but Tokomaru were in better form than llieir opponents and lli-is enabled them to maintain their advantage until the end. Try scored a meritorious try early in the game. A. Bowlands adding the major points.
Hieieree Neville had a hard task keeping the teams in- hand and was compelled to stand a player from each side on the fin-e for too willing plav. Mr Neville’s decisions in a difficult game were generally considered f > be satisfactorily and Tokomaru were loud in their praise of him on their return home. Tokonvam had some difficulty in getting to Foxton on account of Hood water, having to do some of the journey by dray and then to get a bus to meet them from- Foxton.
