HUI MAI DEFEAT ROVERS.

This match, played at Manakau under ideal conditions wa • varv fast and exciting both sides straining' every nerve to- score. Before- the finish both teams were done.to a standstill. Hui Mat’s condition lasted longest, which gave them the victory. Playing up-hill, Rovers set up a strong attack, but the defence of Hui Mai, .proved equal to the occasion, and eventually cleared their lines. \ nice passing rush in Avhich all Hui Mai’s hacks took part allowed Enoka to score, no . goal resulting. Half time sounded shortly after. In the second half Hni Mai attacked sironglv, and kept Rovers hard at it preventing .furlher score until Short relieved with a powerful kick. From now on a battle-royal ensued, both sides playing hard. Enoka again picked up. and owing to the poor tackling of the Rovers he again scored. Again the kick at goal failed. Rovers set up a hot attack and missed a score Avhen a fine pot-kick by Griffith: resulted in a poster; their condition however failed them, and the game ended 6-5 in favour of Hui Mai.
