RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION MEETS.
On Friday night the executive of the Shannon Ratepayers’ Association met. and a considerable amount, of business wais done. Correspondence, from, the Roseneath Association, was received and the secretary wais directed to write a letter of thanks for information received. A lengthy discussion took place regarding the telephone system, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Postmaster for the purpose of having telephone calls more promptly attended to at the exchange. The chairman and secretary were appointed delegates to attend the next, soldiers’ memorial meeting, with direction to uphold a, scheme for beautifying the recreation grounds in preference to the erection of a stone memorial in the main, street; aftso that in the; event of money being raised for this purpose a domain board be formed, elected by the householders of Shannon, to control the recreation grounds. It. was. decided lo hold a meeting of members of the Association about the middle of June.
