BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Borough Council for the purpose of installing the Mayor anil Councillors for the new term, was held "in' the Council Chambers on Thursday. Present: The Mayor (Mr Murdoch) and Cr®. Curran, Gardner, Butt-, Beard, 'Murray, Carter, Hyde and Gunning. In opening the meeting the Mayor said he would like to refer to the exC'ouncillors who had resigned and lost their seats at the recent election. He said they had all given great service and contributed to the welfare of Shannon and Cr. Murray moved that a vote of thanks be passed to them which was carried by acclamation. In addressing the new Council the Mayor said there was a lot of work ahead which would need their best thoughts, he felt sure they would all do their best in the interests of the town. After the Mayor and Councillors had made the usual declaration, the various committees were formed which are as follows: — Finance committee.—Grs. Gunning (chairman), Murray, Hyde and Carter. Library committee.—Crs Hyde (chairman), Beard and Gardner. Cemetery and Reserves Committee. —Crs. Butt (chairman). Curran and Beard. Road and Sanitary Committee Crs. Gardner (chairman), Butt and Curran. Lighting Committee.—Crs. Carter (chairman). Gunning and Hyde. Water Scheme Committee.—C.rs. Hyde, Carter and Gardner. Workers’ Housing Committee.—Crs. Hyde (chairman), Butt and Murray. This being all the formal business ! the Council then adjourned until Tuesday, May 15. -’ ± i
