KOPUTAROA SCHOOL.

THE HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING

The residents of Koputaroa and district assembled in force for the annual election of the school committee on Monday night, there being about 30 present. Mr Walton was elected to the chair.

The report and balance sheet Avere read and confirmed on the motion of Mr Broadbelt, Avho congratulated the committee on the sound financial position disclosed by the balance sheet. Nominations Avere then received for Ihe committee, there being 11 candidates. A ballot Avas taken, AAffiich resulted in the follOAAdng being elected : C. H. Hood, K. Burt, H. K. Walton (chairman, re-elected), .T. D. Sciascin. Mrs Bell, Mrs Gilmour, S. A. Broadbelt.. Mr Bell moved that a. hearty vote of thnks be passed to the oulgoing committee for the splendid work carried out during the year, and the keen interest taken hv them in school matters.—Carried by acclamnlion. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting. In his report Mr Walton - thanked the members of the committee for the loyal suport shown during the year, and congratulated the retiring committee on the sound financial position at the end of the financial year. As shown hv the balance sheet the r.redb balance on. February 28. 1922, was £56 16s 9d. The receipts for llio current year nmonnled to £lB2 10s lid, making a total of £239 7s Bd. The expenditure for the current year amounted 1o £176 19s 'id, which l n aA 7 es a credit balance at February, 1923, of £62 8s 4d. He Avished to congratulate Mr Forsyth and his assishanls for the high percenlnge of passes gained during the venr which was very satisfactory. During the year they had carried out a number of improvements 10 grounds and surroundings. He publicly thanked all Ihosp. Avho so generously responded to the working bee held at the school on Thursday and Frirlav: and on behalf of the retiring commit - lee thanked one and all lor the splendid work carried out on both days for the improvement of the school ground and surroundings.
