ADVERTISING CHURCHES.

In recent years the church advertising has increased to such an extent' that some of the New York newspapers have a whole page of religious announcements every Saturday evening. That such advertising is profitable war affiirmed recently by the pastor of a church, who publicly stated that the average attendance at meetings had increased from 100 to 1200. While the morning services did not show an increase, many people who began -attending the evening services became regular- attendants in the morning and also joined the church. There was also an increase of 450 par cent, in cash collections after a year of advertising, although the object of tlxe publicity was to promote attendance and not to make money.
