MANGAHAO NOTES.
A visit wa,s paid to the works on Monday by the Hon. .1. G. Coates, who together with Mr Dinnie, went over all three camps. There are now about 1.50 men in the river camp, more than there has been since the works started, and good progress is being made on the wall of the dam.
The river is very low at present, which is an advantage to those constructing the by pass on the site of the dam.
Concreting will shortly commence on Arapeti dam, and No. 2 tunnel will in a week or two be concreted over its worst parts.
The continued fine weather has brought many visitors to the works, a good number of whom, avail themselves of the tunnel to visit the river camp.
Mr A. Cuming postmaster at Arapeti, is away on sick leave and. his duties have been temporarily taken over4>y Mr Mcßryde, late of Paekakariki.
