BOROUGH COUNCIL FINISHES UP.

MUTUAL EXPRESSIONS OF GOODWILL. At the conclusion of the Borough Council’s business on Tuesday night, the Engineer (Mr Edwards) stated that as the meeting was the last one of the present Council he wished to thank the Mayor, Councillors, and Town Clerk for their courtesy and kindness. He stated he had had a fairly long experience with Councils, and if Palmerston North Council was as good as Shannon he would be, very pleased. He had always found this Council sincere in anything they undertook and at all times they tried to do their best for ilie ratepayers. If another Council is elected he hoped that it would be as good as this one. The Town Clerk (Mr Bovis) thanked the Engineer for his remarks and for assistance given him during the short time he had been in office.

Cr. Fargher stated it being the last, meeting of the Council and on the eve of another election he took Ihe opportunity on behalf of the Councillors to wish the Mayor good health, prosperity and happiness. The Mayor thanked the Councillors for their kind remarks. He said there had been differences but they would forget them and do the best they could for the benefit of Shannon.
